Satara – Solapur Mission

In 1992 Mar Paul Chittilappilly the then Bishop of Kalyan, entrusted the civil districts of Satara and Solapur to the Missionary Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament when Fr. Cyriac Kottayarikil was the Superior General and Fr. Jose Paremackal the Mission Councilor. Fr. Eappachan Kizhakkethalackal was the first Superior along with Fr. Francis Kodiyan. When MCBS was bifurcated into provinces Satara- Solapur was entrusted with the Emmaus Province.

It was MST fathers of Sangli Mission who initiated MCBS fathers who took up a rented house in Karad to start the mission. Identifying the Syro – Malabar faithful was the first task and then started Qurbana centres in various places. MCBS was raised to a Maharashtra Region in 2010. Hence Mission Superior also became the Regional Superior. The Mission Head Quarters was shifted to Satara from Karad in 1996.
